Wandering Bloom
2020, oil on linen, 80″ x 60″
BEAUTY In the midst of uncertainty, and fear. My daily post of one image of beauty to counter the currently overwhelming fear narrative.
WANDERING BLOOM – One thing that’s important to me in the oils I produce is that they have a “living” quality to them. I want to feel a life-force emanate from the image. I think this painting captures the vibrant essence I’m so attracted to. It feels alive. I’ve long been drawn to flowers. Flowers evidence the life force in them, constantly reaching for light and air, and unfolding their beauty in the process. Here, the flowers are enveloped in a translucent field that has a resonant and energetic character. It’s not clear whether the flowers are falling down and becoming the plant or lifting up and floating away. There is powerful symbolism in either viewpoint. My eyes definitely see it one way but I want viewers to find their own truth. As with many of my other paintings, a journey is implied.
