15’ x 15’ Commission

I was commissioned to create a 15′ × 15′ oil triptych for the lobby of a luxury condominium in Dallas. The project encompassed not only the painting, but the design and fabrication of its supporting structure and frame, as well as delivery and installation.

The work began with a digital study that established the composition and served as a reference throughout the painting process. At this scale, the physical structure became integral to the work itself. I designed the internal bracing of the three individual stretchers in concert with the surrounding frame, allowing them to function together as a single, cohesive support system.

Several months before installation, I visited the site to study the architectural setting and coordinate the requirements for the completed work. With an assembled size of 225 square feet and an estimated weight of 250–400 pounds, final installation required a team of professional art installers.

Large-scale commissions such as this extend the studio practice beyond the canvas, bringing painting, fabrication, architecture, and installation together in the realization of a single work.
