This painting, JOURNEY OF MY PRAYERS, is one of the first in the “Prayer” series. I did a show in 2007 titled “The Secret Life of Prayer”. At the time I was exploring prayer and meditation in a more thoughtful and creative way. I imagined the idea of prayers as physical creatures, created when spoken, and sent on a journey to manifestation. Here, a procession of prayers or perhaps chanted mantras (the orchid flower shapes), travel across an alien universe enveloped by a celestial mandala. The Mandala represents the alignment of all the power of the Universe in service to each prayer. A contemporary spiritual icon. I found the original Artist’s Statement for the show.
