Unwinding
circa 2005, oil on linen, dimensions unknown
BEAUTY In the midst uncertainty, and fear. My daily post of one image of beauty to counter the currently overwhelming fear narrative.
This landscape, UNWINDING, is from a 2005 commission from one of my collectors. My deep admiration for the work of JMW Turner and Claude Lorrain has never ended and their influence is evident in this painting from 15 years ago. What continues to draw me to their beautiful landscapes is their masterful use of light in the creation of painted drama and theater. Those “light” lessons are imbued in this piece and have found their way into all my work. To this day, I feel I’m their student, or more appropriately, a student of the light and drama to which I was led.
