Mist 1
2001, oil on panel, 24″ x 36″
BEAUTY In the midst uncertainty, and fear. My daily post of one image of beauty to counter the currently overwhelming fear narrative.
Reflecting today, on landscapes from my past. This piece, MIST 1, is in my personal collection and used to hang over my bed in my previous home. I’ve yet to find the right spot for it in my new home. I’ve always looked into paintings to find the metaphors, at least the ones I’m most drawn to. The symbolism in a misty (mysty?) landscape is in attempting to see what is obscured or in trying to recognize what is barely visible—something I think we can all relate to these days. Still, I love those moments in nature when I’m walking within a mist. Everything emerges from it as though created in that very moment for me to see.
